Paroles de Blue Collar Salute

Another sunrise comes and goes
The cold little stethoscope tells him so
The pain he feels cuts right through the bone
This hospital room has become his home
The Pain
Nothing left for comfort running out of ways to cope
Lost the last ray of hope when they found no anecdote
Nothing left for family, aside from a son he’s never seen
Worked this whole life though, a slave to the men in suits
A stack of bills, an addiction to pills is the thanks he gets.
Recognized as a marine, served his time for this country.
Yet still to this point, he’s not sure what that means
Can’t wait for the great escape, inching closer to that grave
Totally fine with the end of line and this charade
Maybe it’ll all work out alright, a breeze in the after life
Like laying by a lake in the cool moonlight
Reality’s a dish often best served blind.
