Paroles de The Marionette

Last year in a mountain town
I sat inside a hotel with a sullen frown.
I had an open bottle and an open book,
And across the room my father had a sullen look.
He said, “Come on over here and take the phone.
You should go and call your mother so she's not alone.
And so she knows that you're ok,
So she knows that your mind hasn't gotten away.”

Well, I had a tussle with a forest lion,
And I found myself a-shaking in a bathroom crying.
There was no liquor just some cough-away,
So I downed it, “How tasty!” I began to say.
And the room spun and my heart just raced,
And met the red devil fucking face to face,
He said, “You are tired, now, come to rest,
I live in the tub”, and then he touched my chest.

I released the pressure, then I stepped on up,
To the platform of the priests, and the sacred truss.
I started dreaming of your southern find,
And every fucking little detail just shot to mind.
I didn't care, for your little games,
Or the way you pull my character apart all day,
I just wanted to get away,
So I looked straight down, right through the shame. “The Marionette is coming now!”

I secured my pretty neck,
And I found out that the premonition was correct.
I looked down into the spotless lake,
And saw a naked city that was being raped.
I had a vision of a dizzy height,
So I leaned toward the wall balancing with fright.
I gazed, eyes glazed, at this magic hell,
And my two feet slipped and my body fell.

The bells all rang,
And all the little children sang.
The choirs frowned,
And their sympathy just cut me down,
It fucking sent my body out of town,
And to the unknown valley, free from sound,
And I did not wake up, no not now.
Not now now now now now now now!
Now now now now now now now!
