i didn't hear it shut behind me. just kept on walking through the door and to my car. never felt so far. steam was rising from the engine. i tried to wipe my face from all the rain. and all of the pain. we hadn't seen the sun for days and the nights were growing heavy like a long goodbye...when i saw you start to cry. saw everything around us changing. i guess we didn't see us changing at the same time. so i had to cross the line. nothing lasts forever. we still stayed together. it won't change things whether or not i stay. that's why i gotta go. i can't stay and wait. not when we both know that nothing stays the same. even seasons change and some things just can't last. and i guess in our case, autumn came too fast. that night i drove around in circles, just like the memories recycling through my head. lying in my bed. the streets invaded by september, i couldn't help but think about our spring's gone past, and how i'd like to have them back. but familiar roads before me continued reinforcing what we know is true. and what i had to do. because the longer we take trying, the closer that we come to dying in illusions and of lies. and i don't want to die. been so far for so long. can't control what went wrong. determined to be strong enough to leave. so, babe, i gotta go. i can't stay and wait. not when we both know that nothing stays the same. even seasons change and some things just can't last. and i guess in our case, autumn came too... fast approaching winter fear. and empty cold without you here, but that's not enough to still ignore that we don't love each other...anymore.
