(Luke 15:11-32) I woke up in a daze, Mistakes blurred my vision with a regretful haze – I saw only shapes in shades of gray. But clarity soon opened my eyes, and Nearly lost my breath when I realized I had been sleeping with the pigs. Surely I looked and smelled just as the swine, And tormented by these sins of mine, A deceiver whispered his lies to this life I’ve been livin’ How could I ever be forgiven? But within the depths and confines Of my depravity it was My Father who I remembered. And in desperation I cried: “I’ve sinned against Heaven And I have sinned against you!” Revealing my brokenness in light of truth. “I need you now - I wont survive on my own! Because my pride and lust and greed have shown me How foolish I was to think that living apart from you I’d be free.” But all these “pleasures” that I gave myself to were only temporary – And they sucked me dry to the bone and left me blind to see. But because of the blood that was shed on the cross You say we are no longer lost. But we are found. Now, I am before you, stained with disease The revelation of your glory brings me to my knees. “My Father please stay away from me! I’m a broken man - Your son I’m not worthy to be.” Because I still look and smell just as the swine, And still tormented by these sins of mine, That same deceiver whispers his lies to this life I’ve been livin’ And I’m still thinkin’ - how could I ever be forgiven? But You said, “My Son! You have come back to me. I’ll kiss your face and adorn your feet. For you were dead, but now alive and free. Put on my ring, so all will know you belong to me.” You said, “My Son! You have come back to me. I’ll kiss your face and adorn your feet. For you were dead, but now alive and free. Put on my ring, so that all will know you belong to me.” Because of the blood that was shed on the cross We are no longer lost. But we are found. Chorus: O, my Messiah I lay my life before your throne. O, my Messiah Take what is rightfully Yours.
